A cold start to a busy week

I spent the last week flying to LA and Sacramento. It was a week full of meetings and a unexpected visit to the Urgent care, but all is well now and I am back on the road pulling my Rivet. The setting this week is Northwest Arkansas. If you have not been to this part of the country, you should put it on your list. It is beautiful.

The challenge of traveling in January is the unpredictable weather. Though it was nice when I arrived at Lake Dardanelle state park in Russellville Arkansas, the temperature quickly dropped to 17 degrees overnight. Needless to say, the water line feeding the trailer froze solid. Fortunately, I had bottled water to make my coffee. Priorities, I know! The city is apparently dry, meaning you can not purchase alcohol in the city. I always have a bottle of wine on board just for these occasions. I did notice that a neighboring town has a winery. If I have time after work today, I hope to check it out.

I’ve been asked frequently what gas mileage I get pulling the trailer. The answer is a cash gobbling 8 mpg! I’m not sure a different tow vehicle would make much of a difference. It appears that this is the accepted “normal” for towing.

I will update again later in the week.
