Having a birthday around Christmas sucks! I’m not gonna lie. You usually get one gift, wrapped in Christmas paper and you never get to have a party because everyone is either out of town or broke. lol
This year, I was celebrating my 50th birthday. My oldest daughter reached out to other friends of mine who also have birthdays around the holiday and organized a camping trip for all of us. It was a great time with family and friends. It ended up getting unusually cold for Texas, so a lot of time was spent on “Chao”, my Airstream. (It is now officially named and registered as such with Airstream), and the camp fire.
The purpose of camping in my mind has always been to disconnect from our current life for a while, wether it is work, social media or other things that may be stressing us and reconnect with the people in our lives on a personal level without distractions.
This trip for me was just that. I am thankful for my family and friends that made me feel loved and appreciated. Also for not giving me a birthday gift wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper!
In addition to the party, I camped the following night at a RV park (Northlake Village RV Park) near the Texas Motor Speedway with my girlfriend and her daughter. The Park was very clean and had nice accommodations.
