As mentioned before, I use my trailer a lot for work trips. This week I needed to be in Round Rock Texas. The weather was going to be great so it I loaded up “Chao” my Airstream and headed south.
I stayed at Jim Hogg park. This park is well kept and all the sites have a grill and covered picnic area. My spot was right on the lake.
The nice thing about traveling with the trailer as opposed to staying in a hotel is not only sleeping in your own bed, but waking up to birds singing and other sounds of nature as opposed to cleaning lady carts rustling , doors slamming and cars honking.
If you have not been to the Round Rock area, you should go. It is just north of Austin. It has a very cool downtown area with many restaurants and pubs. They have the Round Rock Express minor league baseball team and no shortage of shopping if that is your thing. I made sure I checked out the Brass Tap and partook of several local beers from the 60 plus beers they had on tap. Also do not forget to stop at Round Rock Donuts and get there famous donuts. If I remember correctly, they use brown eggs to make the sugar glaze for their donuts so they have a different hue then you may be accustomed to.
In addition to Round Rock, I stopped at the little town of Salado. It is a cute artistic community. There are plenty of shops with original art, antique stores, old book stores and a Brewery! Unfortunately the Barrow Brewery was closed when I was passing through, so I can not vouch for the quality of their beer. I did make it a point to visit Chupacabra craft beer and Wine
They have a great selection of beer and wine and offer flights of both. The food is good so stop and have lunch sometime.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I also put personalized plates on my trailer. Let me know what you think.
