I attended a trade show that was held inside the Saint Anthony Hotel in downtown. This hotel is remarkable. It’s part of the Luxury Collection by Marriott. The architecture and charming antique furnishings are beautiful. What is interesting is that even though it’s a very well preserved classic building, the hotel bar and restaurants are very modern.
I had a little down time between sessions, so I took the time to explore. I visited the San Antonio Missions National Park, which was conveniently located a couple blocks from the RV park that I was staying. The park has trails you can walk while admiring the old Mission church. It’s free to visit, so put it on your list.
Speaking of the RV park, I chose to stay at Travelers World RV Resort. This little gem is only 3 miles from downtown. In fact it’s a straight shot to get into town. If you are inclined, you can even catch the bus out front if you don’t wish to drive. The resort has a pool, hot tub, dog park, playground, fitness room, tennis courts and a Yoga room. There are plenty of trees for shade as well.
Hopefully you like Mexican food because you are going to have access to some of the best in the country on every corner. I usually find that little hole-in-the-wall places have the best food. Or you get food poisoning, but that’s a story for another time.
Did I mention I had down time? Well, I had a little too much, and as a result I soon found myself in a tattoo shop. It’s named Firme Copias Tattoo Studio. The shop was busy and they have artists that specialize in all the different styles of tattoos. I managed to get in without an appointment and they were able to transform a rough sketch that I had drawn into a vibrant piece of art I now wear proudly.
Until next time. Keep looking, learning and traveling.
