For as long as I can remember I wanted to move out of the City/Suburbia and find a piece of land I could call my own. Someplace that I could find solace and also challenge my senses. In addition, I wanted a place that family and friends could come visit and leave recharged as if they were on a vacation.
Fortunately, I found such a place at the end of 2019. Just a word of advice, don’t move Thanksgiving day!
The place we now call home and that we have dubbed 21 Acre Wood, is located in northwest Texas. The local town has a little over 300 people. The funny thing about living in the country is the sense of community. I lived in my previous home in a very desirable area for almost 15 years, yet I knew only two of my neighbors. We have now been in our forever home for 6 months and I chat with my neighbors from up to a mile away on a regular basis. Out here, nobody cares what you drive, what you wear or what you look like. What they do care about is; are you ok, do you need help and could you lend a hand. It’s people relying on each other and enjoying each other based on who we are as individuals, not for what possessions we possess . I hope that you have the opportunity to experience this way of life.
In the mean time, I will be writing and sharing some memories as we make them at 21 Acre Wood.
